Every kitten deserves a chance, but for one tiny tabby named Tula, the odds were stacked against her. Found late last year as a stray, Tula was in rough shape. Severely damaged eyes left her with limited sight, and her tiny body was painfully thin. Many might have turned away, but thankfully, compassion prevailed.
A Good Samaritan scooped up the fragile feline and sought help from the rescue community. One Cat at a Time, an all-volunteer organization, answered the call. Marie, the founder, recalls, “We offered to help as the kitten needed veterinary care fast. We welcomed her in and named her Tula.”
Despite her ordeal, Tula’s spirit shone through. “She’s such a sweet little kitten,” the rescue shared. “She eats with a good appetite and makes muffins when we pet her. It never ceases to amaze us how resilient and adaptable animals can be.”

Tula’s journey to recovery was just beginning. She needed surgery to remove both eyes (enucleation), but first, she had to gain weight and strength. The dedicated team at One Cat at a Time showered her with love, a warm bed, and plenty of nutritious food. Tula responded with purrs, cuddles, and a newfound zest for life.
Finally, the day arrived for Tula’s surgery. Thanks to the generosity of the community, she received the care she desperately needed. True to her fighting spirit, she recovered quickly, adapting to life without sight with astonishing grace.

Blindness hasn’t dimmed Tula’s sparkle. In fact, it’s only fueled her playful nature. She’s a master at navigating her world using her other senses. Her days are filled with exploring, cuddling with her human, and discovering cozy napping spots, often perching atop the highest cat tree like the fearless adventurer she is.
