6 Recipes For Cleaning Dog Ears At Home

For some dogs, cleaning the ears is one of the most important parts of a haircut. Reduces the chance of ear infections and removes excess wax. You can use an over-the-counter ear cleaner, or you can save money and make a dog ear cleaner.

Homemade solutions for cleaning dog ears are cheap and easy to prepare from ingredients you already have on hand. They will also be more natural and safer for dogs. Below are some of my favorite dog ear cleaner recipes for you to try.

Note: All of the ear cleaners listed below are intended for general healthy ear cleaning. If your pet has an ear infection, try not to use this cleaner and consult a vet. Your vet will most likely recommend treatment for ear infections.

1- The Most Popular Combination

This homemade dog ear cleaner will help stabilize the pH of your dog’s ears during cleaning. This has the potential to fight off some of the bacteria, making your ear infections less likely.

Composition:

• Empty bottle
• White vinegar (we like natural brands like Lucy’s)
• Boric acid
• Isopropyl alcohol for friction
• Povidone-iodine (betadine is the most popular)

Manual:

1. Pour 4 tablespoons of white vinegar into a closed bottle
2. Add 1/2 teaspoon of boric acid
3. 3-4 drops of rubbing alcohol to isopropyl
4. Add 3-4 drops of povidone-iodine
5. Close the bottle and shake until all the ingredients are well blended

Note: Provided God is simply a generic name for the popular Betadine brand that most pet owners use. It has antiseptic properties that attack the bacteria in the ears of dogs and do not harm them. However, you don’t need to add it to this homemade dog ear cleaner if you’re worried about red. The solution will work fine without them.
